Meet Jesus

You know all about Him. But do you know Him?

You’ve heard about Him all your life. You know the story of His time here on earth. You know much about Him. But do you know Him? You should. He is your Creator. Read this account about the destiny of those who never knew Christ:

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”
— Matthew 7:21-23

Please take a few moments to read the following presentation, and let us introduce you to Jesus.

The Bible says ALL have sinned.

God's Standard

For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23

Have you ever lied? Of course you have. We all have. But what class does that put you in? Liar. Have you ever stolen? Maybe you haven’t robbed the bank, but you’ve taken things that don’t belong to you. What does that make you in God’s eyes? A thief.

There are no exceptions. Guided by the law of God written in your heart, you’ve embraced a very specific moral code as the only good and reasonable way for humans to live. This is evident in the fact that you have judged others when they don’t measure up. You are holding to truth in your mind but violating it with your actions. You are the very person God refers to in Romans 1:18: “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;”

God is holy, and He does not forget. He says of Himself in the Bible: “The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty…” (Numbers 14:18)

“So what happens to sinners? Surely God wouldn’t damn everyone just for a few little sins.”

The Bible says that “…the wages of sin is death.” (Romans 6:23) Not just the wages of a lot of sin, or of terrible sins - ANY sin.

The book of James in the New Testament says this about the importance of God’s Law: “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” (James 2:10)

Tablets

What is your verdict?

Judgment day is coming, and no one is exempt. The Bible says, “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.” (Proverbs 15:3)

God has seen and recorded everything you’ve ever done, said, thought, or even intended. On Judgment Day you will stand before Jesus Christ and give an answer for how you have used the body He gave you. On that day, everyone will be tried, and there are only two possible outcomes: guilty or innocent.

What will your verdict be? The Bible says, “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8)

Consider your position. Your ungodliness has separated you from God’s favor, and His wrath is upon you. “God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.” (Psalm 7:11)

Your physical life here on earth, a sign of God’s mercy, is the only thing separating you from everlasting destruction. On Judgment Day all your sins will come out as evidence of your guilt, and you will then be condemned to Hell for eternity.

“So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.” (Matthew 13:49-50)

Hell

It would seem that we are all without hope. Surely the most pious religious leader would never measure up to the standard God puts forth in His Word. Truly, we have ALL sinned. That is the tragedy.

However, God, in His infinite mercy and love for us, has made a way that all men can be delivered from damnation. But there is only ONE way, and that Way is Jesus Christ.

Who is Jesus Christ?

Consider what the Bible says about the identity of the greatest Man who ever walked our planet.

He is God.

“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.”
— 1 John 5:20

He is the Creator of the universe.

“For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.”
— Colossians 1:16-17

He is the Light of the World.

“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
— John 8:12

He is the only begotten Son of God.

“He that believeth on [Jesus] is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
— John 3:18

He is the Savior of all that believe on His name.

“…we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.”
— 1 Timothy 4:10

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”
— John 1:12

He is the Lamb of God.

“The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”
— John 1:29

Jesus has paid for all of your sins.

It is done. There is nothing you can add to it. When Christ died on the cross, He cried out, “It is FINISHED!” And so it is. But will you believe on His name? As long as you attempt to earn God’s favor, He will reckon with you based on your works. You will be found guilty and condemned. But if you believe on Jesus, He will give you His righteousness.

Imputed Righteousness

When Jesus died, He died a criminal’s death. He did not deserve this death, but God placed on Him all our sins, reckoning Jesus a sinner for our sakes. God says that if you place your trust in Christ, He will impute Christ’s righteousness to your account. Then He will reckon you to be a saint, which you were not, as He reckoned Christ a sinner, which He was not.

“But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.”
— Romans 4:5

And then, on that fateful day when you finally stand before your Creator, the Lord Jesus will raise His hand, and you will hear that most marvelous of verdicts…

Forgiven!

Here is a personal message from Jesus Christ to you:

“I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”
— John 11:25-26
